End of Week? End of Weekend? Indeed.

Greetings all two of my faithful readers! I have been keeping busy as usual. I still haven't finished the buildings painting.(I love the word bildungsroman. hehe. Yes, that is random.) I have modified some of the colours and added new elements-four to be exact. The work progresses.

On Friday I hung out with Ange. We went for $5 Veggie Chili and shared a pitcher of Sangria. Outings can be cheap if you know how to prioritize! Nicely buzzed we went to the Old Forum to watch Rachel Getting Married. It was an interesting movie but I don't think I would watch it again. I liked the music and it had a very eclectic wedding in it. (I hate weddings though.) In some ways the movie just seemed pretentious, from the over-the-top wedding to the handheld camera work throughout... As well, the movie was full of all these characters who are supposed to be worldly open-minded creative types. It helps that they all seem to be independently wealthy as well. (It is much easier to fully indulge creativity when money is not an object.) Anyway, as you may have heard, Anne Hathaway plays Rachel's sister who leaves rehab to attend Rachel's wedding. The same open-minded, worldly people mentioned before have trouble accepting Rachel and her relapses, drama etc. I guess maybe that is the point. I just felt that the movie wanted so badly to be good, deep, meaningful and give a message that this self-consciousness leaked through and ruined it for me.

Yesterday Miss and Mr. Dish came over for stew, Caribbean Sunsets and hockey. I don't particularly like the hockey but had a delightful evening nonetheless. Today I must tackle the post-fest mess. Yippee.

F-F-F-Flying!

The week flew by yet again. I don't know where it went. I have been keeping busy yet have very little to report of my adventures. My computer is still broken. Tonight I had coffee with Roxana at a JavaU. We shared a disappointing brownie.

I have resuscitated a painting of buildings that I started during the summer. I have been adding to it day-by-day. I am hoping to have my first vernissage in the coming months and to include this piece in it. Cross your fingers for me because I only have hooves!

Mwah!

A Bit About A Band (Oh! I like how that sounds)

I am very verbose today! I met up with Ange this evening at Shaika cafe on Sherbrooke West in NDG. It is one of my favourite cafes! Tonight they had live music and I was very impressed. The two performers (guitarist and drummer) were from a group called Mount Elephantus. The guitarist and singer, Ian, played extremely well and between the two of them they managed to create a layered sound that varied from song to song. I believe they would be considered Indie/rock/pop. Check out their myspace: Mount Elephantus
There are three songs on the Web site that you can listen to, but they are not nearly as good as how they sound live.

Good night darlings!

Broken Laptop and Collected Events

I broke my laptop a few days ago. All my pics are on the laptop and I can't post them until it gets fixed. The laptop itself is actually fine, (yippee!) but the power cord is wrecked and I can't charge the computer. It broke when I tripped on the cord with my dainty hoof and pulled the laptop off the table onto the floor. As luck would have it, the cord detached from the laptop but then the laptop landed on the little thingie that attaches the cord to the computer. It is squished almost flat and I fear I shall require a new one altogether. Being an artiste can be hard on the pocketbook and so I must wait for a little money until I can fix the darn thing.

Today I am having a good laugh because my roommate is playing on his PS3 as usual and he is discovering Playstation Home. What a dreadful world! He can make someone that sort of looks like him and do stuff like go to the mall and go bowling. Never mind that he would not do these things in real life. So far it seems that Playstation Home World should change its name to Sausageville. The ladies are few and far between.

This week was quite busy. I went to a lovely play on Thursday night with Lilia. The play was called 'Bookshop'. It was family-friendly romantic comedy stuff. All the actors did a great job and it was a pleasant evening. I am a little disappointed that I can't find more info. about it online. It was at the Segal Theatre on Côte St-Catherine and the tickets were free at la maison de la culture on Côte de Neige. I heard that the play is translated from French. If anyone knows what I am talking about, please e-mail me!

On Tuesday I met up with another artiste from the group I joined and played model. If you have seen my pics on here, you know that I love to model!

Last Monday I also went to an event with Ange. It was a night of poetry and music with an Inuit theme at la Sala Rosa on St-Laurent. I had a terrific time there as well. The performers all did a great job, esp. Moe Clark who did some really cool a cappella stuff. She made multi-layered songs by recording different sounds on-the-spot. I am not a music expert but I liked what I heard.

I have finished the book Success by Martin Amis. 'Twas an enjoyable read except for the last page or so. I don't quite understand what happens to one of the characters.

en français S.V.P.

Dès maintenant, j'ai besoin de pratiquer mon français plus souvent. Je viens de finir un test de compréhension que je faisais quand j'étais étudiant et il y a une grande différence. C'est pire maintenant!

Okie dokie, I know that I made some errors up there hence why I must study! There was a time not so long ago when my petit Robert went everywhere with me. Languages take so long to grasp and yet are so quick to be lost with any decrease in effort.

Tomorrow I am going to a lovely (English) poetry reading with Ange. Yippee!

C-R-A-W-L-I-N-G Along

I am presently reading Success by Martin Amis. 'Tis a lovely, messed up book full of profanity.

Life crawls at a snail's pace of late.

Where Am I?

Tonight's song: Dramarama-Anything, Anything

Where is everyone? Today is Sunday and I worked hard all day! Now I want to chat and no one is around. What is this?

I fear the whole world has gone to a swanky costume party and forgot to invite me.

Art and Empty Space

Today I found out what Rick Rolling is. Am I the last to know? Is this popular amongst twelve year olds? I am out of the loop!

My social calendar is very busy in these coming weeks. I plan on attending as many art shows as possible. I have been out of touch with the Montreal art scene for so long. I am looking for more cool events, please tell me if you know of any!

FYI, apparently my neighbourhood St-Henri is now considered cool. According to a copy of the Mirror from this summer, the bar at the corner of Du Courcelle and Notre Dame is supposed to be cool. That place is a dive! As well, le Black Jack was mentioned. It is next door to a strip club that used to look very trashy. Rumour has it that their pool table was resting on blocks rather than legs. I always thought that bar and strip club were together...

Madame Dish visited last night after my makeover (yes, pics soon), and we took a nocturnal promenade through the neighbourhood. I got some cool pics from that excursion as well so perhaps I will post them too. Not tonight though. I have some work to do.

Token Truths About Yours Truly

Miss Farley says that I am a prig too. I am a prig pig and don't give a fig.

Good thing I am not a poet!

Tomorrow I go to see my stylist. I am thinking of trying a new look. Perhaps I should get my tail straightened? Maybe I'll start to wear those large 80s glasses with no lenses so everyone knows how hip and ironic I am! I see them everywhere these days.

Look for lovely before and after pics darlings. I am sure the transformation will be astounding.

Misters Watson and Yane: the luncheon was delightful. You two are smutty beyond measure.

Finally, tonight's song is Kingsbury Manx-Piss Diary. Yeah, I don't know either.

La La La Land (It's a 3 La Night)

I am not a Snow Patrol fan but I love their new tune 'Take Back the City.' 'Tis in my head right now.

This weekend I shall patronize some vernissage to get free wine and cheese.

Revery: you feckless git.

Thoughts...

Yay Obama won!

Discovered a great used bookstore on Sherbrooke West near Esposito's. I think it is called Encore. Fantastic selection of books and music with reasonable prices and a cool vibe. I think I will go spend copious hours there. I spotted a biography of Jim Morrison that I want to check out...

Sleeping Beauty

I forgot about the 'fall back' time change thingy...lucky me!
I got an extra hour of beauty sleep and now I am an extra vibrant pink.

Today I baked cookies-chocolate chip. Mmmm.
Then I painted a picture of the cookies in black and white. Not so mmm.

Methinks I shall start posting what music I am listening to when I write. Yesterday I think I was listening to the song 'Grace' by Jeff Buckley. Lovely song really.
Tonight I must endure the songs of Guitar Hero World Tour. I used to love most of those songs until my room-mate bought the game a couple of days ago. He plays the same level over and over and over and just alternates instruments. I know the game is fun,(though difficult to play with my stumpy limbs and hooves) but there is a limit to how many times I can hear that same Tool song over and over and by now I don't care if the Beastie Boys will get No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn.

I told the roomie that he should dedicate the same amount of time to learning a real instrument. Roomie has just informed yours truly that he is a prig. Good thing I am in such a grand mood from the extra sleep.

Halloween Aftermath

I love modelling!
Thank you Babs and Peter for a lovely evening. Your Jack o'lantern (my photogenic companion here) was fantastic!
